Atheist for president?

So Australia’s new prime minister is a woman…and an atheist.

"I am not going to pretend a faith I don't feel," Julia Gillard explained to the press. “For people of faith, I think the greatest compliment I could pay to them is to respect their genuinely held beliefs and not to engage in some pretence about mine.”

So, what do you think will happen first—the U.S. elects a woman for president, or the U.S. elects an atheist for president? Do any potential candidates come to mind for either category?
