I finally finished my book!
A Year of Biblical Womanhood is scheduled to release in the fall of 2012 with Thomas Nelson, and I am currently adjusting to the strange sensation of having a life again. (Remind me of what a "double date" is again?)
Thank you so much for your support and patience. I know I’ve been a little quiet on the blogosphere lately, but next week I’ll be jumping right back into the daily blogging schedule.
Despite my preoccupation with living biblica... read more

We’ve had some fantastic conversations on the blog this year, and record numbers as a result. In fact, I’m pretty sure that we’ve got the most thoughtful, respectful, and diverse comment community on the Web. Thanks so much for being a part of it. I have a feeling next year will be even better! These were the most read/retweeted/shared posts of 20101:
1. November 4: Letter To a Young Calvinist (From a Young Arminian) Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus... read more

So there’s this entrepreneur from Dayton, Tennessee whose wife constantly complained about how long it took to incorporate Creative Commons photos into her blog posts.
To help solve her problem, this entrepreneur created Wylio, which boils everything down to three easy steps:
1. Search Creative Commons images through Wylio
2. Resize/position photo
3. Copy and paste the Wylio code, which includes attribution t... read more

I’ve always thought of this blog as a collaborative effort, but most of the time I’m the one starting the conversation. So today I’d like to hear from you about future topics.
Are there any ideas from Evolving in Monkey Town that you would like to explore further here on the blog? Is there a topic that you wish bloggers were more open about? What do you want to talk about?
Be as specific as possible...and feel free to use the "like" feature on DISQUS i... read more

So every few months, I like to take a long hard look at the blog in order to generate some fresh ideas about how to draw new readers and keep current ones.
Some ideas I’m currently tossing around include: working harder to employ the same writing style in posts that I employ in my books (more story, less ranting!); sticking to the Monday-Wednesday-Friday post schedule; including more interviews with fellow bloggers and writers; including more links as resources; returning to book reviews... read more

...Well, at least the “Evolving in Monkey Town” blog is getting one. If things start to look a little weird over the weekend, it’s just because we are working on the transition. (And by “we,” I mean Dan.) I think you guys are going to like the changes, so stay tuned.... read more

Not to be outdone, my husband Dan just launched a blog of his own!
Visit www.escapetradition.com to read it. It touches on Dan’s wide range of interests—from self-employment, to tech news, to investment opportunities, to stories about how wonderful and gracious and beautiful his wife is. Not a lot on theology or politics or social action...Dan said he thought I had that covered.
Another interesting online phenomenon is the now viral Prop 8 Musical video. What was your reaction? Som... read more

Here in Dayton, I’ve developed a bit of a reputation for being both a political and theological “liberal,” and have thus found myself in some spirited conversations about everything from Barack Obama’s foreign policy to the eternal destiny of Buddhists and Hindus and, well…Barack Obama himself. The blog has been a fantastic forum for discussing some of these issues, and so far I’ve enjoyed our conversations immensely. Over the past few years, as I’ve ta... read more

Time for a little survey. I want this blog to be an inviting and stimulating forum, so I need to know what you want to talk about. I’ve listed some topic ideas below. Please let me know which ones appeal to you and what additional subjects you think should make the list. 1. Women and the Church: We had a great discussion a few days ago about Hillary Clinton and the religious right’s attitude toward women. A few of you mentioned that you felt dismayed by the lack of opportunity ... read more
