First of all, I want to issue a huge THANK YOU—to those who participated in the Rally to Restore Unity, to those who have donated to Charity:Water, and to those who offered such insight and encouragement in response to my fears about motherhood. I am so grateful to be part of an online community in which we laugh together, think together, and work together to change the world.

Now on to our Sunday Superlatives!

From the blogosphere…

Funniest Photo:
Sam Tells Stories with “The Other Side of the Argument”

Most practical:
Ron Gutman with “The Hidden Power of Smiling” (a TED Talk)

Most Touching:
Chad Holtz with “Forgive Me Daddy”
"My Father in Heaven – who loved me before the foundations of the world, who chose me long before I could utter a sound, who died for me to show his great love, who stoops low to the ground and holds out his far reaching arms – has adopted me, and yet, I have snubbed him. I have even run to other dad’s nearby, hugging them, playing with them, running around with them. Sometimes I even looked to see if Daddy was watching. There He always was – arms open, waitng, loving."

Most Profound (in less than 300 words!):
Wendell Berry with “The Myth of Progress”

Most Haunting (nominated by Alise Wright):
Ashleigh Baker at Deeper Story with “Her Choice”

Best Insight:
Roger Olson with “When did evangelicalism start to go wrong (right)?”

Best Writing:
Christopher Hitchens with “Unspoken Truths”"One can become quite used to the specter of the eternal Footman, like some lethal old bore lurking in the hallway at the end of the evening, hoping for the chance to have a word. And I don’t so much object to his holding my coat in that marked manner, as if mutely reminding me that it’s time to be on my way. No, it’s the snickering that gets me down."

Best Confession:
Richard Beck with “Stuff I Don’t Pray About”

Best Advice:
Adam McHugh with “Why Pastors Should Get Their Heads Examined”

Best NEW angle on an OLD story:
Matthew Paul Turner with “11 Days Until Judgment Day and I’m Not Laughing”
"And while I know that the kids who believe in May 21st have what they consider to be “great faith in Jesus,”–trust me, they are scared. They’re nervous. Some of them aren’t sleeping. They’re asking lots of questions. They’re hoping that it isn’t true. But they believe it is."

Most Eye-Opening:
Amanda (at Rage Against the Minivan) with “My Daughter is not a Tax Burden”

Most Predictable:
Christian Retailing with “Response books to ‘Love Wins’ in the works”
(The one that throws me off the most is Mark Galli’s proposed ‘God Wins.’ Really? Isn't that kinda saying the same thing? 1 John 4 anyone?)

Here on the blog…

Most Popular Post:
“Afraid of Motherhood”

Most Popular Comment:
Pam Elmore, in response to the post above, said:
“Let me be the first Christian woman to tell you: you don't HAVE to have children. You're right, the church is not a safe place to admit any fears (or challenges or regrets) about motherhood, at any phase of it, before or during. I wish I knew how to fix that.”
