A big win for Dan and a big time-saver for bloggers
So there’s this entrepreneur from Dayton, Tennessee whose wife constantly complained about how long it took to incorporate Creative Commons photos into her blog posts.
To help solve her problem, this entrepreneur created Wylio, which boils everything down to three easy steps:
1. Search Creative Commons images through Wylio
2. Resize/position photo
3. Copy and paste the Wylio code, which includes attribution to the original photographer
Well I’m happy to say that the whiny wife was yours truly and that Dan’s brilliant solution—Wylio— was featured Friday on TechCrunch!
This is a big win for Dan and his friends, who have been working on Wylio for about a month now and who are excitedly trying to keep up with the response. I’ve been using Wylio regularly, (see posts aboutCalvinism, recipes, the Rally to Restore Sanity, voting, baking, and Martin Luther), and it really is an easy way to find and use free, legal images…all without having to host those images on your own computer. So if you’re a blogger, give it a try.
The way I see it, there are two morals to this story: 1) Startups that solve problems win. 2) Sometimes complaining works.
Bloggers—Where do you typically get your images? What sort of problems do you run into? Got any advice/ideas for the Wylio team?
