When I get discouraged…

When it seems like the loudest voices are the ones screaming, “God hates you!”

When it seems like the most popular blogs are the ones that turn grace into a doctrine and the gospel into a coalition,

When I am told in no uncertain terms that I have no right to speak about faith because I am a woman,

When I find myself fueled by anger and ambition, desperate to beat these guys at their own game,

I stop.

And I remind myself that it is not my job to fix all of this.

It is my job to live like Jesus, whose love has already overcome the world.

And in the quietness of that moment, it doesn’t feel like victory,

It feels like peace.

Do you ever feel frantic to try and “fix” all that it wrong with Christianity? What do you tell yourself when you get discouraged?

[P.S. Sincere apologies for the irregular posting schedule. It will be like this for the next three weeks as I finish up Book #2! Thanks for your patience.]
