Ask a Gay Christian...

In our interview series so far, we’ve featured an atheist, a Catholic, an Orthodox Jew, a humanitarian, a Mormon, a Mennonite, anevolutionary creationist, and a Calvinist.  I recently took an informal poll on Facebook asking what sort of interviews you would like to see next, and by far the most-requested was “Ask a Gay Christian.”

I knew just who to contact!

Justin Lee is the executive director of The Gay Christian Network (GCN), a nonprofit organization serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Christians and those who love them.

Justin was a conservative Southern Baptist who firmly believed that being gay was a choice and a sin—until he discovered he was gay himself, turning his whole world upside down. After years of wrestling with the resulting theological questions, Justin started GCN as a safe place for Christians on both sides to discuss the issue without being condemned for what they felt. He has since been featured in major media outlets including Dr. Phil, CNN, and The New York Times.

Justin is also the director of "Through My Eyes," a documentary about young gay Christians, and the co-host of GCN Radio, a popular podcast on issues of faith and sexuality. His brand-new blog is calledCrumbs from the Communion Table

You know the drill: If you have a question for Justin, leave it in the comment section. At the end of the day, I’ll pick the top seven or eight questions and send them to Justin. We'll post his response next week.  Be sure to take advantage of the “like” feature so that we can get a sense of what questions are of most interest to readers.

Please remember the point of our interview series is not to debate or challenge, but to ask the sort of questions that will help us understand one another better. I’ll be monitoring the comment section to make sure the questions are civil and fair.

Ask away!
